A few words about one of the most powerful tools in today’s digital world — a tool that I feel people still don’t fully appreciate in terms of its potential: online stores, or professionally speaking, eCommerce stores.

The revolution that allows you to sell right from your living room sofa.

Usually, when people think about online stores, they imagine business owners who already have a physical shop on the street and simply want to add a website. But the truth is, it really doesn’t have to be that way. Just as it’s most convenient for me as a customer to sit on the couch in the evening and order something that will arrive at my home within a few days, a store owner can also manage everything right from their couch at home.

The big advantage is that you can sell whatever you want and wherever you want — whether here in Israel or anywhere in the world. There’s no need to pay expensive rent for a physical location, no sky-high electricity bills, and in many cases, you don’t even need to maintain a large warehouse or employ dozens of staff. Everything becomes much more accessible, simple, and cost-effective to operate.

Break beyond your usual boundaries and reach new audiences.

Of course, it’s also an incredibly powerful tool for those who already have a physical store. Let’s take an example: suppose you own a toy shop in Haifa. Your audience is limited to Haifa and the surrounding area. The moment you open an online store, those boundaries disappear. Suddenly, you can ship your toys to Tel Aviv, Rishon LeZion, Be’er Sheva, or Eilat. Domestic shipping costs are reasonable, and your business stops being dependent on its physical location.

Beyond physical products like jewelry or plants, online stores are also a powerful tool for generating passive income. You can sell almost anything through them: recorded lectures, courses, digital guides, artwork, and photos. Anything you’re skilled at can become a digital product that sells while you sleep — creating a strong stream of passive income. כל דבר שאתם חזקים בו יכול להפוך למוצר דיגיטלי שנמכר בזמן שאתם ישנים ולהכנסה פסיבית מטורפת.

How do you get started? The first steps in building an online store

Before starting the design, we first need to understand what our product is and who our target audience is. When we know who is going to buy from us, we can design the store in a more effective and accurate way.
The second step is creating a checklist of the products. Is this a large store with many categories and tags that need to be organized smartly so customers can find everything quickly? Or is it a boutique store with 10–20 products? The answer to this has a major impact on how the website will be built. או שזו חנות בוטיק עם 10-20 מוצרים? התשובה לזה משפיעה מאוד על איך שנבנה את האתר.

Another critical factor to understand is the importance of visuals. In the online world, people buy with their eyes first — they buy the image before they buy the product. That’s why it’s essential to use high-quality, appealing photos, whether through a professional photographer, AI-generated visuals, or high-level self-photography.

Payments, security, and the moment everything goes live

After designing the product pages, category pages, and adapting everything for mobile (which is the most important stage!), we move on to the technical part: the payment provider. Just like a physical store has a cash register, a website also needs a system to process credit card payments. There are many companies on the market, and each offers different features — from transaction protection to sending SMS notifications to customers. We always recommend several options we’ve already worked with, so our clients can choose the solution that works best for them.

It’s important to remember that credit card companies require a clear Terms and Conditions page on the website, explaining how transactions can be canceled and how product returns are handled.
At the final stage, we run comprehensive checks: we test what happens if a customer leaves an item in the cart, review how the invoice email looks, and make sure everything works smoothly from the very first moment. Only then, once everything is fully ready, do we launch the store and set everything in motion.
